New Year's Dinner

We celebrated the new year with pecan-crusted wild Alaskan cod, homegrown microgreens, roasted broccoli, and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes.

The wild Alaskan cod is a sustainably harvested fish according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium seafood watch.

December 5, 2011

Whoops...skipped a few days. Let's see---some recent meals have been: roasted pumpkin soup, chicken/vegetable noodle soup, curry, lentil stew, swiss chard with pasta, and oh yeah, frozen pizza and even an In & Out burger.

Tonight's meal = Korean style broiled short ribs with green beans and plain noodles (because I forgot to make rice). In our house, we don't eat a lot of meat. Generally, I use it sparingly to add a bit of flavor. Tonight is an obvious exception, and we are definitely in beef coma now.

Notice the clean bones...my uncle would always leave his plate scraped clean and the bones without any trace of meat or seasoning left on them. Waste not.

Curry 'Lamb' Stew

The lamb was minimal...one tiny piece flavored the whole batch. This stew consisted mostly of vegetables. Garlic, onion, okra, red bell pepper, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes. On rice. My mom used to make a very similar stew but with celery instead of okra and without bell peppers.
